Paintings - works on paper
Heinz Mack already belonged to the international avant garde in the late 1950s and 1960s as one of the founders of the ZERO artist group and acquired a global reputation with his paintings, sculptures and kinetic works. In 1963, he painted his ostensible last painting on canvas, but turned to brush and palette again in 1991. He has since produced paintings and works on paper of great pictorial power and intensity. The “Chromatic Constellations” live from the spirit of pure abstraction, they examine the interaction of light, colour and form. Mack’s entire work can be understood as a homage to light. “The identity of light and colour, which is visible in the spectrum, is the subject of my painting – it is its only subject”, according to the artist.
The exhibition brings together 20 works on paper and canvas created between 1999 and today. The exhibition can be visited in the gallery after prior registration under Corona conditions.
