The gouaches: untitled SRB 3 in horizontal format 26 x 34 cm and untitled SRB 5 in vertical format, created by Götz in 2014.
By this time, the painter was one hundred years old. And had practically lost his vision. So I, (his wife Rissa) would hand him his tools, his brush and the squeegee. In terms of their size in relation to the format of the sheet, they are larger than they used to be in order to make painting easier for him. Consequently, he was able to work the blank sheet more rapidly with informal structures.
Before starting to paint, he would first gauge the size of the sheet by running his hand across. Then he would fill each sheet by applying rapid strokes with his brush and the squeegee. After the act of painting, I, his wife, and his eyes, would study the sheet to decide whether it was successful or not. In most cases we were fortunate and the world was further enriched by a beautiful and powerful Götz gouache. The less successful works were destroyed.
