The œuvre of Heinrich Siepmann encompasses not only paintings, but also pastels, collages and graphic works. Many of his collages can be categorized as experimental. Materials of the most diverse kind, including ropes and tree branches often gathered during his walks along the shore and on his travels were used. The artist was also greatly attracted to coloured paper and cardboard which he also integrated into his work. Playfully designed and applied, glued and nested, often overpainted, these found materials formed the basis of Heinrich Siepmann's charming compositions. Some of these collages also served as the basis for many of his paintings.
